SIMRAD GPS-RADAR-MFD-AUTOPILOT-SONAR-FISHMAPPING-INSTALLATION CHARLESTON SC
Featured Installation: Simrad Electronics Upgrade & Dash Rewire — 2009 Contender 39
This 2009 Contender 39 came to Charleston Marine for a complete electronics upgrade. Although the original 2009 equipment was still functional, the owner wanted modern navigation and sonar capabilities, including Fish Mapping technology that wasn't available when the boat was built.
After reviewing the options with the customer, we determined that the best approach was to remove the original dash panel, create a new template, and fabricate a custom fiberglass insert finished in black gelcoat. This provided the clean, modern appearance the owner wanted while accommodating the upgraded Simrad displays.
The finished system includes two Simrad displays at the main helm and a third at the upper station, all networked for access to radar, navigation, and Fish Mapping. The system also allows the operator to switch between conventional sonar and a dedicated 3kW in-hull transducer installed specifically for deep-water swordfishing.
While completing the electronics upgrade, our team also reorganized and modernized the wiring behind the dash.
The three photos show the custom dash fabrication process, the wiring behind the console, and the completed Simrad installation.

At Charleston Marine, Simrad electronics installation goes well beyond mounting a display in the dash.
We design, install, and integrate complete Simrad systems, connecting navigation, sonar, radar, autopilot, engine information, and vessel controls into a functional, fully networked helm.

Whether you're replacing an outdated chartplotter, upgrading your sonar, adding radar, or outfitting a center console with multiple multifunction displays, our team handles the entire installation.

Every boat presents different challenges. Our work includes equipment selection, custom dash fabrication, fiberglass and gelcoat finishing, precision mounting, electrical rewiring, network integration, system configuration, and on-water testing.

Our Simrad installation capabilities include NSS and NSO multifunction displays, marine radar, CHIRP sonar, StructureScan imaging, Fish Mapping, autopilot integration, NMEA 2000 networking, and high-power transducer installations for offshore and deep-drop fishing.

As demonstrated by our electronics upgrade on a 39-foot Contender, we can integrate multiple helm stations, specialized sonar equipment, and custom dash modifications into a complete system designed around the owner's needs.

A professional electronics installation is about more than the equipment. It's how the entire system is designed, installed, and integrated.

Charleston Marine provides Simrad electronics sales and professional installation for boat owners throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, Summerville, and the surrounding South Carolina Lowcountry.
