2022 NauticStar 21 Bay — Yamaha VF200 SHO
Our 2022 NauticStar 21 Bay was equipped with a Minn Kota 112-lb thrust, 60-inch trolling motor, three Interstate Group 27 batteries, a Power-Pole, a T-top, and 40 gallons of fuel.
Stock Performance: 55 MPH at 5,950 RPM with a 19-pitch propeller.
After installing the NIZPRO ECU performance tune, the increase in horsepower required us to step up from a 19-pitch to a 23-pitch propeller. Everything else on the boat remained unchanged.
NIZPRO Performance: 64 MPH at 6,050 RPM with a 23-pitch propeller.
THE RESULT: 9 MPH FASTER — A 16.4% INCREASE IN TOP SPEED!

1996 Stratos 285 — Yamaha VF150 SHO
We repowered this 1996 Stratos 285 Pro XL bass boat with a brand-new Yamaha VF150 SHO. The boat was equipped with a trolling motor and jack plate, without Power-Pole shallow-water anchors.
Stock Performance: 56 MPH at 6,000 RPM with a 21-pitch propeller.
After flashing the ECU with the NIZPRO 232 HP performance tune, the additional horsepower allowed us to increase propeller pitch from 21 to 25.
NIZPRO Performance: 64 MPH at 6,150 RPM with a 25-pitch propeller.
THE RESULT: 8 MPH FASTER — A 14.3% INCREASE IN TOP SPEED!

How the NIZPRO ECU repower actually gets done
Plug in the ECM/ECU to the shop computer using the NIZPRO harness system
Choose the appropriate repower tune, and verify the ECM/ECU serial number
Start the reflash procedure, once complete, test the ECM/ECU to verify flash
Professional NIZPRO ECU Tuning — Performed In-House at Charleston Marine
As an established NIZPRO Marine dealer, Charleston Marine performs all ECU tuning and flashing in-house at our Charleston, SC facility. You're welcome to bring us just your engine's ECM for tuning, but we prefer that you bring the entire boat. This allows our Yamaha-trained technicians to remove the ECM, perform the NIZPRO performance upgrade, reinstall it, and verify proper engine operation afterward. We're happy to tune an ECM by itself; however, without the boat, we cannot verify engine runability following the upgrade.
What should you expect from your NIZPRO tune? That depends on your Yamaha outboard. Many NIZPRO upgrades deliver noticeable performance improvements without requiring a propeller change. The Yamaha 150 and 200 VMAX SHO models, however, typically produce enough additional horsepower that a higher-pitch propeller is needed to take full advantage of the upgrade. For Yamaha 300 owners, the increase in top speed is generally more modest, but improved cruising fuel economy can be a significant benefit. On our own twin-300-powered Regulator, we documented approximately 10% better fuel economy at a 30 MPH cruise, with no propeller changes.
Important Information About NIZPRO Performance Upgrades
NIZPRO ECU performance upgrades are available for select Yamaha outboard models. Actual horsepower gains, top speed, acceleration, and fuel economy will vary depending on engine model, boat configuration, propeller selection, engine condition, and operating conditions. The performance results shown on this page represent actual testing conducted by Charleston Marine and are not guaranteed for every application.
Installing a NIZPRO ECU tune does not automatically void your Yamaha factory warranty. However, a warranty claim may be denied if Yamaha determines that the ECU modification caused or contributed to the failure being claimed.
Certain NIZPRO calibrations require higher-octane fuel, and some installations may benefit from a propeller change to maximize performance. All installations are subject to applicable emissions regulations and legal requirements.
Charleston Marine will review engine compatibility, fuel requirements, and relevant considerations before performing a NIZPRO upgrade.
